Sonar is a remote control for Sonos speakers on your own network. These are the same two documents shown inside the app, word for word.

Sonar is a remote control for speakers on your own Wi-Fi network. It is built to need as little information about you as possible, and this policy explains what that means in practice.
Sonar does not ask you to create an account and does not require your name, address or phone number. You can use the app without telling us who you are.
The commands Sonar sends to your speakers travel directly across your own Wi-Fi. Details about your home, your speakers, their names and what is playing, are not collected by us.
We collect limited, anonymous usage and diagnostic information, such as which screens are opened and whether the app runs into errors. It tells us how Sonar is used and where it breaks. It is not used to identify you personally.
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment details. We receive only confirmation of whether a subscription is active, so the app knows what to unlock.
We use a small number of third-party providers to run the app, for analytics, for managing subscriptions, and for understanding which marketing brought people to Sonar. They process information on our behalf and under their own privacy terms.
Local Network access is needed to find and control your speakers. The microphone is used only while you are actively recording an announcement or identifying a song, never in the background. You can decline or withdraw either permission in iOS Settings, and Sonar keeps working with reduced features.
Sonar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
You can ask what information we hold, ask for it to be deleted, or object to how it is used. Write to us at the address below and we will respond.
If this policy changes materially we will update it here and revise the date shown at the top of this page.
